Removal from the country
Persons without legal permission to reside in Finland will be subjected to a decision of refusal of entry or deportation.
‘Refusal of entry’ means that a foreign national is prevented from entering the country at the border on arrival or removed from the country if she/he has arrived in Finland without a residence permit. ‘Deportation’ means the removal from the country of a foreign national who has already had a residence permit.
If the individual concerned will not leave the country voluntarily, they may be escorted part or all of the way back to their country of origin. Decisions of removal from the country are enforced by the police or the border control authorities.
