In a just society, personal characteristics such as origin or colour of skin must not affect a person’s potential for accessing education, finding employment or receiving various services. Fundamental rights are equally for everyone.

Equality means that all persons are equal regardless of their gender, age, ethnic or national origin, nationality, language, religion or belief, opinions, disability, state of health, sexual orientation or any other personal characteristic.

Equality is enshrined in the Non-Discrimination Act. The purpose of the Act is to promote and safeguard equality and to assist persons faced with discrimination.
